A Brief History of MailScanner

MailScanner was created by Julian Field in 2000 in response to the growing amount of spam when the internet really started to bloom, and there were not many options back in those days to do anything about it. A year later MailScanner was booming in the open source community. Over the years MailScanner has been expanded and refined with some of the sharpest security experts in the world contributing to the development.
Current State
Because MailScanner is open source, its source code has been reviewed by thousands of developers. Considering the age of MailScanner, it is considered an extremely stable and reliable product. Development still continues, but is now in a stage of refinement and maintenance versus continual change.
